So close, yet so far

The volleyball season had barely begun.  Landmark was the visiting team for one of most exciting games.  It was a tie.  The third game was the tie-breaker; the first team to get 15 points would be the winner.  Our team had the possession of the ball and we served the ball over.  1............2.............3 hits got it back over to our side.  1.......2 our team hit it right back.  The ball hit the other side of the court with a thud and that was it.  15 points!!!!!!! We won..........or so we thought.

As we screamed, hugged, smiled, and laughed, we soon saw the Landmark coach step up to the referees.  We all had a look of What is this guy doing?! frozen on our faces.  When they were finished talking, it was announced that according to the rulebook, tie-breakers were supposed to be played up to 25 points.  Unwillingly, we got back on the court and sadly lost the final game 23-25.  Most of us felt disappointed, but looking back, it was one of the most fun and well-played games of the season.  You can't win them all - right?!
