READING MARATHON 2012
"CATCH THE READING WAVE"
All students (PK-8) are invited to join the MCA Reading Marathon for 2012. We encourage all MCA students to develop the "god reading" habit by reading good books every day over the next 4 weeks (Feb. 1st - Feb. 29th)
Studetn in grades JK3 - 2 are urged to read outside of school 15-20 minutes each school day and 20-40 minutes each weekend or holiday. Parents may read to or read with students in grade JK3 - SK.
Students in grade 3 - 8 are urged to read outside of school 30 - 45 minutes each school day and 45 - 60 minutes each weekend and holiday.
on designated turn-in days (only), we will award "Reading Marathon" tickets to students who reach the reading goal for that week, and who turn in their completed reading schedule on time.
On Turn-in Day each "Reading Marathon" ticket will be redeemed in the lunchroom for a snack treat or a treasuer Chest Prize.
To be eligible to receive a "Reading Challenge" ticket, student must fellow these guidelines:
1. Students must read books from the MCA reading list or books approved in advance by their classroom teqachers. (Books can be from our MCA library or other sources.)
2. Students must accurately and faithfully complete ther reading schedule (including parents signature verification)
3. Students must read at least 5 days of the week. Minutes counted for "Reading Challenge" tickets must be within the daily limits. Student can not count more than the maximum minutes allowed per day.
4. STUDENTS MUST TURN IN THE COMPLETED READING SCHEDULE ON THE DESIGNATED TURN-IN DAYS.
TURN-IN DAYS ARE: Wednesday, 2/8, 2/15,2/22, 2/29. *Students will receive one ticket each week they meet these guidelines TICKETS WILL NOT BE GIVEN IN ADVANCE OR IN RETROSPECK.
Our gol is for each student to read 1000 minutes or more over the month of February. Students in grade SK-6 who read 360 minutes and turn in a Six Flags Read to succeed log by the last turn in day will qualify for a Free Admission ticket to "Six-Flags -Great America
