Boys Soccer Season Overview 2009

in
I certainly had no idea what to expect as I jumped into the coaching role for the boys soccer team this past season.  The only real piece of information I was told was that the boys had not won a game the previous season.  With field space in high demand, and transportation in low supply, we dove head first into the season.  The boys immediately found their soccer legs as we ran to Kilbourn, and sometimes Portage Park in order to begin and end practice.  They quickly realized that they were going to have to work to be a part of the team and become a valuable piece of our puzzle.  We weren't too sure what to expect in our first game against Medinah, but we were thrilled to pull out a win.  From then on the boys knew that every game was in their reach for the win.  For some, it was their first year playing as they found supporting roles and honed their skills.  For others, it was their final year as they played a core role in the team's chemistry.  Coach Tim and myself throughly enjoyed making the boys work for everything that they truly earned this past season.  One of our highlights was undoubtedly the "home game" that we were able to play at an indoor facility in Chicago.  Indoor is definitely a different game, and the boys pushed to victory in MCA's first ever "home game."  With a little love and a lot of push, the boys varsity soccer team turned into a formidable foe this season.
