Athletics and Physical Education
There is much research correlating physical activity and achievement. With this research in mind, MCA is dedicated to providing multiple venues for our students to participate in physical activity. First, every student in our school receives a daily recess time of 20 minutes. Our facilities and grounds are not extensive, but there is certainly room for the students to run. Most students in our school receive two Physical Education Classes, while many receive three. During PE classes, students learn various tag games, fun activities, activities that promote physical fitness, the Presidential Fitness Program, as well as many team sports that include: softball, kickball, dodgeball, volleyball, floor hockey, basketball, badminton, pickleball, soccer, and team-building. The Before/After school program also allows students to periodically play in the gymnasium for additional physical activity.
In addition to our standard classes and recesses, MCA also provides an assortment of physical activities through team sports. We currently have Boys' Soccer (6th-8th), JV Boys' Basketball (5th-6th), Girls' Basketball (6th-8th), Boys' Basketball (7th-8th), and Girls' Volleyball (6th-8th).
